Love is invisible except here in us. Rumi
I invite you to ponder these few words from Rumi. Rumi was a Sufi, a mystic whose deep experience of God led him to write beautiful poetry. His encounter with the Sacred evoked great compassion and a practice of lovingkindness.
Here are three ways you may think about Rumi's wisdom:
God's Love is present all the time even when we can't see it.
Think about a time when God's Love became "visible" to you.
- Through whom did God's Love become a tangible or palpable reality?
- What was the context or situation?
- Is there a word or a phrase to describe how you felt when this happened?
Think about a time when God's Love became visible through you.
- What was the circumstance when God's Love flowed through you and became real for someone because of your compassion, your mercy, your forgiveness, your generousity, your thoughtfulness, your kindness, your justice making, your peace building?
- What did you do? or What did you say?
- How did you feel as you entered that situation, as you moved through that situation and after you completed the caring action?
What gets in the way of God's Love flowing to you and throught you?
What is necessary for you to allow God's Love to flow to you and through you?
